Last week before I left on vacation I was surprised to receive nomination for the Versatile Blogger award. First I must apologize to Jenni of newsoftime.org for taking so long to respond. It’s not because I wasn’t excited. I am truly honored to be recognized by someone whose blog I admire.
Accepting praise and recognition can be difficult; especially without qualifying it with statements like, “Oh you shouldn’t have,” and “I don’t deserve it.” I find myself in that difficult place right now. But I will say thank you without adding a qualifier.
To Jenni of newsoftime.org, I say a special thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Your blog inspires me to stay informed. You share thought provoking topics that are in the news in an engaging way. One day I will find the courage to jump into the discussions. For now, I will continue to hit like.

Seven things about me …
- I am a creature of habit and not in a good way.
- It’s hard for me to talk about or promote myself, despite the fact that I put my life out there on a blog.
- If I could travel any where without worrying about money, I would go to Spain, Greece, Italy, Buenos Aires, and Australia.
- This year is about deepening relationships but I am still figuring out what that means.
- I am a writer who is working on her skill in hopes that it will one day match my desire.
- I am an introvert. My next non-fiction read will be Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain.
- I love the support and sense of community that exists for bloggers and writers.
Thank you again to Jenni. I consider it a privilege.
Congratulations on your award. It is well deserved. Thank you so much for following my blog judysp.wordpress.com and for mentioning me in your list that was very nice of you. Cheers Judy
Congratulations to you as well.
Embrace the fact that you are a writer. A great writer, a great encourager, a great friend to many. Love ya!
Thanks girl. I love you too. You are so good to me.
Congratulations, Gail. Very nice!! I just picked up “Quiet . . . ” from the library. Will let you know what I learn about us.
Yes, please let me know what you think. I like the intro about Rosa Parks.
Hi There. I’d write you privately, but since I don’t know how to do that, this my only way to do it. The note I got from bern was:
“I really like this post and your blog. That’s why I nominated you for the versatile blogger award. https://thejottersjoint.wordpress.com/2012/06/08/accepting-praise-recognition/” which of course took me directly to YOUR website which, unsurprisingly, I assumed was HER website.
So I guess she nominated me, but sent me YOUR web address by mistake … and I can’t actually FIND hers … so I’m at a loss. I think it’s a copy/paste/ error, but since I can’t seem to get to her website, only her profile, I can’t fix it. Can you send me HER website link? Then I’ll try to straighten this out. I know she nominated me because she said so, but she linked me to YOUR site, not hers, so I thought she was you and all this is WAY too complicated for a Saturday morning!
Reblogged this on EMPOWERED RESULTS ~ Creating A Difference In Our Communities… and commented:
Hi Everyone! Wow! Here is another award to share about our blogging community! Congratulations to The Jotter’s Joint and the other nominees!
Thanks for the link back. Appreciate it. Gail
You’re welcome!
1) The freckles on my left arm are in the shape of the big dipper
2) I want nothing more than to meet Billy Joel.
3) That’s a lie. I really want to meet Katy Perry too!
4) Since my name is Bern (short for Bernadette) I want to travel to Bern, Switzerland.
5) I am interested in language in general. English is my first language but I continue to learn Spanish and Body language.
6) I want to be an editor when I graduate college.
7) I love the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers 🙂
Congratulations. That’s an awesome list. I dabble in Spanish but couldn’t begin to claim fluency. You’ll have to post photos of the big dipper. LOL! When do you graduate?
Thank you for the nomination! =D And congratulations to you!
I’m an introvert as well; I guess that plays a part in why it’s so difficult to promote yourself, because it’s difficult for me too. I feel like a show-off, haha. xD
Zen, That’s exactly it. I guess blogging is a way of to promote myself in a passive way. People can take it or leave it but I don’t have to promote it. Congratulations!
Wow! Thanks for the nomination. I’ll get on nominating others. I love what you had to say about yourself.
Thanks Tara! Congratulations. I enjoy reading your blog.
Thank you so much for nominating me Gail. So sweet of you and congratulations on your own award. thanks again Judy judysp.wordpress.com
Thanks Judy! Congrats to you. Can’t wait to see who you nominate.
